I wrote Let Your Kingdom Come out of an intense yearning to see the Kingdom of God made manifest on the earth through His children. The bridge is my favorite part:
Bring joy and peace
End prejudice, heal grief
Stop malice, bring hope
Bind injustice and loose love
As I was singing this song one morning, the prayer in my heart went something like, "please Lord, would you mobilize your children... one day, Lord... I can't wait to see an end to the hatred on the earth when you transform us all by your Holy Spirit and we begin to act like You." I remember the Holy Spirit speaking to my contented state of lazy procrastination that day saying, "Really? I agree. YOU start. Now."
Of course! How humbling and inspiring!
I discovered in that moment that my heart had begun to doze and had slipped out of a posture of faith-filled love and action into a place of wishful thinking. One day there will be peace... One day prejudice will end... One day injustice will cease...
In Luke 17: 20-21 (Amplified) we read,
Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He replied to them by saying, The kingdom of God does not come with signs to be observed or with visible display,Nor will people say, Look! Here [it is]! or, See, [it is] there! For behold, the kingdom of God is within you [in your hearts] and among you [surrounding you].
That really is such an amazing reality. The Kingdom of God is here... it is now... it is in ME. It is in US. The Kingdom is everywhere we go, that we may bring joy NOW... heal grief Now... stop malice NOW... loose love NOW.
I invite you to sing this song with me and as we do, I pray that together we will purpose today to be a people who are intent releasing the Kingdom of God that is IN us to those in our immediate sphere of influence and beyond for His name sake and His glory and the good of all those He loves.
Let Your kingdom come,
Over the earth,
Let it come over the nations
And over the peoples,
And over each tribe and tongue,
Over every generation
Let Your kingdom come
Come rule, come reign
Come have Your will today
Bring joy, and peace,
End prejudice, heal grief
Stop malice, bring hope,
Bind injustice and loose love
