about

This song began over a decade ago when David, our now 17 year old son, began singing in the wee hours of the morning as we were driving home from visiting my parents in Uvalde, Texas.

From his car seat, into the quiet, came his little voice "stars are shining, stars are bright, stars are twinkling through the night..."

A few months later, Emily (now 19) began singing this lovely verse and chorus about the Boy that she will love being born...

We've been singing this song for over a decade now and have taught it to several choirs. It's super simple and is thoroughly enjoyed each year when we carol from door to door in our country neighborhood.

At the request of family and friends, we recorded it this summer in my living room, mostly live, and had a blast doing so... Enjoy!

lyrics

STARS ARE SHINING
By Emily, David, and Jennie Riddle 1997

(This song is meant to collide with ABC sections sung at once.)

The beauty, the beauty of the Lord
The loving, caring child is born
The little babe is fast asleep
In a bed of hay
The boy that I will love is born
In Bethlehem today
Alleluia

Alleluia, Jesus is born
Alleluia, I’ll live forevermore
Alleluia, for the Son of God
Alleluia, Christ Jesus is born

Stars are shining
Stars are bright
Stars are twinkling through the night
Little beacons of God’s light
Shining through the darkest night
Stars are shining
Stars are bright
Stars are twinkling through the night
Little beacons of Gods love
Shining down from heaven above

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
